Overview
LogBook ("we," "our," or "the app") is a personal logging app that lets you track and share activity with friends. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what's necessary to make the app work. We do not sell your data to third parties. Period.
Information We Collect
When you use LogBook, we collect the following types of information:
📧 Account Information
Your email address, username, and chosen avatar when you create an account. This is stored securely via Firebase Authentication and Firestore.
📍 Location Data
When you log an entry, we store the latitude and longitude you select on the map. Location access is optional — you can deny permission and manually set a location. We only access your location while the app is in use, never in the background.
📝 Log Entries
The entries you create, including timestamp, type, comments, bathroom rating, and location. These are stored in your personal account on our servers.
👥 Social Features
If you join or create a group ("Stall Mates"), we store group membership, shared log entries, and chat messages so that group members can see shared activity.
What we do NOT collect: We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, browsing history, contacts, photos, health data, financial information, or any data beyond what is listed above. Firebase Analytics is explicitly disabled in our app.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide app functionality:
- To create and maintain your account
- To store and display your log entries
- To enable sharing with groups you choose to join
- To power the group chat feature
- To display your entries on a map and calendar
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose beyond delivering the app's features.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which provides encryption in transit and at rest. Access to your data is controlled by security rules that ensure only you can read your personal logs, and only group members can access shared content.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is only visible to:
- You — your personal logs are visible only to you.
- Group members — only logs you explicitly choose to share are visible to members of that group.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Your Rights & Account Deletion
You have full control over your data:
- Access: View all your data within the app at any time.
- Modification: Update your username and avatar in your profile.
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the app via Profile → Delete Account. This removes your user record, username, and authentication credentials. This action is irreversible.
Children's Privacy
LogBook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
